More than 300 people die on Armenia’s roads every year, a per-capita rate significantly higher than in neighboring countries. The drivers of this crisis range from vehicle quality and road infrastructure to unsafe behavior (particularly speeding and drunk driving), compounded by a rapidly expanding vehicle fleet.

We re-framed road safety as an integrated systems problem: data, behavior, and policy treated as one. We combined a national crash analytics platform with behavioral experiments and education initiatives co-designed with the Police, ministries, and UNICEF.

• An integrated road crash data analytics platform launched in 2023, providing real-time updates and identifying high-risk “black spots”
• Behavioral interventions and targeted messaging delivered to 21,000+ drivers
• A behaviorally-informed road safety education program, built with police, ministries, and UNICEF, featuring games, quizzes, and at-home tests for children and parents

A live data platform now supporting evidence-based road safety policy, behavioral nudges tested at scale with tens of thousands of drivers, and an education curriculum embedded in joint work between government, police, and the UN.
